In the mood ...

I have tried cooking biryani using Shan brand twice before. It's quite hot n spicy; and there are bits n pieces of dont-know-what-you-call-it that taste pungent. The tuan besar doesn't quite like it but all the same he'd ask for second helping (but still in denial). Surely he can't resist, sah air tangan wife dia mabeles, clap clap.
.
I then craved for cik Mag briyani.. Heat ghee to fry briyani mix, add in rice, pieces of chicken and water. Kacang aje tu but I follow the cooking instructions to a tee when I first cook it long time ago. It has only 4 easy steps but for wanting to have the end-result edible, maka I kelihatan amat tekun patuhi instructions, BUT ...
.
... since this is my 2nd effort, the need to ubah suai the briyani is quite overwhelming. I need something challenging yet simple.. (ada ke cam tu?).
.
The recipe says to use chicken but I have a limited stock in the freezer. I need the chicken to cook a dish with gravy so I need to find an alternative. I remember Mak used to cook beriani Rubian (prawn in Arabic), but do I have prawns in the freezer? Yes, I did find some medium size prawns yang molek paras rupa. I stemet 3 prawns each person and all in all there were 14 prawns only. Catu2 ni macam kat PLKN pulak tapi kena catu juga sebab chef takut cair keluar rumah dalam cuaca panas untuk beli bahan yang kurang.
At last after much pondering, a suitable dish with gravy would be chicken kurma. This kurma is without potato and carrot but I added in celery and 1/2 tomato. Tomato pun kena catu as I need the tomato to make some salad. Nilah padahnya kalau 'rajin' ..
.
Salad ni nampak cam sedap aje kan? Very colorful ..
.
Ada sebabnya kenapa I masak beriya2 tu .. you knowlah perihal mak siTanggang, terasa puas hati bila dapat bawa makanan untuk anakanda yang dikasihi setiap kali ada peluang melawatnya (but then again, I ni bukanlah bulat2 ikut acuan mak siTanggang tu; acuan I dah diurbankan sikit, heheh).
.
In case T reads this post (don't know when), just remember the WW3 which almost happened but did not... Whatever happens, our love to you is unconditional! Just be patient, insyaallah all the good things will rush to you.
.
Nota ejaan: Beriani, Biryani dan Briyani.

Kata my family doc, utk elakkan masaalah kolestrol, kalau mkn udang tu mmg sepatutnya sekadar 2-3 ekoq medium-sized ones punya.. Kak Ja balik termenung 4 ari 4 mlm, dok imagine kalaulah kja ikut ckp doc tu, mcmana tingginya depa (anak2 n hosbon) melompat, meraung sbb mkn tak ckp lauk.. sdgkan kami empat beranak ni, mkn sutun 1kg sekali hadap je!! No wonder lah, kja kena gout, kan?

Kak Ja suka dgn org yg pandai menyesuaikan resipi dgn keadaan, apa yg ada dan apa yg xde.. Hasilnya ttplah marbeles, kan?

MrsC, kalau 'rajin' masak cam tu, kalau malas camana ek? Hehe..
Carilah sesame oil by Adabi. Rasanya 1-tan boleh dpt kat s'market.

Gee, jom "ahaksss" bersama2. RahsiaMu rahsiaKu jua ;-)

LG, kalau dah memang pandai masak, masak air kosong pun akan terasa manis tau.. (betull..)

Azieda, u mean beriani kat restoran Insaf ke? I suppose the spices they use have been guarded since time in memorial just like KFC.

KakJa, boleh I call u Ja aje x? I dewasa banyak tahun dari u taw.. hehe. Anyway, first time I tau pompuan dpt gout. I tau my Bak n 1 brother ada gout. Psst.. awat hang godam 1kilo sotong in one sitting? No wonderlaa u ..
